Windows XP. Having trouble with something, and think I may have it
pinned down, but maybe not.

Starting yesterday, at least that I've noticed, the following things
have started happening:

- Pressing F1 for "Help" in AutoCAD freezes AutoCAD.

- Loaded AutoDesk's DWF viewer and I get an error message when I open
it: "The procedure entry point GetProcAddress@ could not be located in
the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll.". It eventually lets me in, but
I have to hit 'OK' 5-10 times before it does.

- I'm usually reluctant to use System Restore, but wanted to use it
this time, and got the same error message. I hit 'OK' and it never
lets me in for this one.

- At random points, a particular program will get "stuck", according to
Task Manager, and will not fully close, and will keep the CPU usage at
50% contantly. Sometimes when I keep trying to end the task, the
screen will go blank, and the only way to reset everything is to
manually shut it down and reboot. Not good to do very often, I know.

- I have tried to run McAfee virus scan (current and updated and
subscribed) and it doesn't find anything, but always hangs up on the
same file, "...IEXPLORE.IE5\OF1BY6ZX\index[13].php", under the temp
directory. I have run McAfee three times, and it always gets hung up
on the same file. I have tried to delete it, but cannot.

Other things I have attempted:

- Cleaned out temporary internet files, and there were alot. There are
three files that do not want to budge, however. I once read a trick to
delete almost any stubborn file, but can't remember it now.

- Downloaded and replaced kernel32.dll. Didn't change anything with
opening the programs mentioned above.

- Downloaded and ran PC Doc Pro 3.5. That helped with alot of other
small minor annoyances, but did nothing for the kernel32.dll problem.

I'm at a loss, so any help or suggestions would be most appreciated.
I'm thinking the index[13].php and/or kernel32.dll files may be the
culprits, though maybe not the only ones. Thanks.

LOL.
Backup everything you want and format the hard drive.
Try a fresh installation without all the shitware you mentioned above.
