Hi,

Yesterday, in shutting down the PC, a blue screen appeared. After getting
the PC to turn off, I then turned it back on, & the decided to look at
msconfig for anything strange ( the kids had been on this all day).

ms config : dumprep O-K %systemroot%\system32\dump o-k

Registry: HKLM software\Microsoft\software\windows\current version\run

the key is KernelFaultCheck \

REG_SZ

%systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0-k

I did some research, & come to the understanding that this is part of XP.
I was told by a local tech it was a virus.

The PC seems to run fine, although I have not been on that much today. As I
write this it ischecked in msconfig, as it shows up in the registry. I had
it unchecked earlier, & it does not appear in The HKLM as ststed above.

I did more reading, no one has stated if this hey can be deleted? It would
then be gone from msconfig.

Can I delete this key: KernelFaultCheck
REG_SZ
%systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0-k?

TIA,
Doc
