Acronis TrueImage, you fucking cunt!

Un-fucking-believable... I got my x64 Vista all nicely setup with a Linux
dual boot. The system was running nicely, working and rebooting between OSen
without a care in the world. I was happy.

So, being happy, I then upgraded my Acronis TrueImage to the latest version
that supports x64 Vista and created a TrueImage safe zone and did a full
image back up of Vista into it. While messing around a little later I
installed some shitware that wouldn't run properly on Vista x64 and decided,
just as a test, to restore from the TrueImage safe zone to make sure it
worked.

10 minutes later, the restore was complete, however Vista would boot but
couldn't find any fucking user profiles so explorer.exe was not started. I
ran the task manager and started explorer.exe manually, which gave me a
temporary profile, but the Windows Explorer was totally fucked - I could not
copy or move files, the entire control panel was gone, and applications
would not start, either from the Start menu or from within Windows Explorer.

Then I decided to try and boot Linux. No go. GrUB would die with a disk not
found error.

So, I booted the Vista DVD and elected to repair the system, but the
repairer could not identify any issues at all. As far as it was concerned,
the Vista installation was ok. I rebooted and tried to logon again, same
problem.

On investigation, A-fucking-cronis had completely rooted my system, well and
truly fucked it beyond all use. Acronis had booted the safe zone as drive C:
and restored Vista into the correct partition, however the boot partition
now became partition D:, and partition D: was now marked as active. GrUB got
fucked because it was trying to get its boot files from the active
partition.

Un-fucking-believable. All that work down the fucking drain. Fuck you,
Acronis.

Sooooooo... believing the problem was caused by the Acronis safe zone being
marked as C:, I booted from an Acronis startup disk and restored from a
second image. I always make two images and store them on different disks,
however when Vista booted, it again could not find any fucking user
profiles...

Fuck you twice, Acronis. Fucking cuntware it is.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!
I have Acronis True Image 11, never trusted that safe zone shit from day
one. Restored a number of times from images on separate drives.
After a restore Vista starts but as if the machine had crashed, however it
comes up and works largely as one would expect.
I've not tried it with 64bit though.

I blame all that rancid dog meat for that itch.

I've never tried it on Vista or 64 bit, but Acronis has been rock solid for
me under Windows XP.
Great program IMHO.

I don't see why 64-bit would be any different. The filesystem itself (NTFS)
is the same. The only difference is that on Win64 the executables are
64-bit binaries vs. 32 bit binaries. As far as Acronis is concerned... they
are all just "files."

I'm using 10 on XP and Vista; both 32-bit versions. But, I'm not using their

safe zone on it (after I image to another drive).

Been there, done that.

Test 1 failed. The boot cd can't find the acronis loader.

Test 2 failed. Restore 60GB of Vista x64 and the MBR. Only the MBR was
restored.

Test 3 is about to start. Restore only the 60GB of Vista from within Vista.

Hahahaha. This product is fucked, well and truly.

Test 3 failed. A full restore boots into acronis, which then analyses the

It is 100% fucked and I'll bet my arse to a bucket of pig snot it's because
the boot drive is RAID 0.

Yet, the backup module correctly identifies both the RAID0 and RAID10 arrays
:(

Version 10. I logged on and downloaded the latest version
allegedly supporting Vista.
I'm using 10 on XP and Vista; both 32-bit versions. But, I'm not
using their safe zone. I'm about to build an XP system on a 250GB
drive. I'll try their safe zone on it (after I image to another
drive).
I tried it without the safe zone as well. While I didn't get
stuffed up disk drive assignments, I still got the corrupt profile.

I shall have to do some research on 11.
I upgraded to 11. The blurbs explicitly state Vista x64. I'm about
to see if it does the same thing.

I have found a couple answers in their support forum.
Got any links?
http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/forum/
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=65
(be sure when drilling down to click on any "Acronis True Image"
entry in the Forum Column after a search... search gets all forums)
Been there, done that.
Test 1 failed. The boot cd can't find the acronis loader.
Test 2 failed. Restore 60GB of Vista x64 and the MBR. Only the MBR
was restored.
Test 3 is about to start. Restore only the 60GB of Vista from within Vista.
Hahahaha. This product is fucked, well and truly.
Test 3 failed. A full restore boots into acronis, which then analyses
the disks, then it reboots back into windows.
It is 100% fucked and I'll bet my arse to a bucket of pig snot it's
because the boot drive is RAID 0.
Yet, the backup module correctly identifies both the RAID0 and RAID10
arrays :(
It's fucked.
Maybe it's time to try what Sharron always recommends.
It's time you tried what I always try :)

Looks like I'm not alone. Exact same symptoms.

When I was using a stripe and a separate mirror (the most likely I would
have though of confusing Acronis) it worked ok.
As stated earlier it's not perfect.
Maybe it's some sort of incompatibility with the hardware you're using and
Acronis 11.
Which chipset is your motherboard?

Mines a Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 which has intel... Door bell!

So, I'm thinking about using Acronis TrueImage Workstation
version 9.5.8076 finally. I don't have a CD drive and the
retail pirated product is on a CD. I'm not sure if my DVD
will be too hot because it's supposed to be Vista certified.
Also, it's supposed to work on DSL but all I have is ADSL,
and that requires a password to be filled in on connection,
then I have to do their registration routine with any eMail.
Plus the fact that my telephone is hooked to my computer for
using filters and relays and only my IT staff knows how that
works because the configurations are "proprietarty secrets"
so I don't want to unplug it because I wouldn't want my
picture to be posted on the news broadcasts by Interpol
again... Just another thing that I did *NOT* do. Also
Windows Genuine Advantage might phone home and report on
my some or all of my mp3s when I finally install SP3 via
the System Notification Area Icon Information Display Device.
Thoughts and/or suggestions?

All I know, is I am trying to run Acronis True image I got with my 12,000Gb of WD Black Hard Drives, and the Piece of Shit software tells me I dont have any WD Blacks/WD Drives installed.

I am fucking using them, and the shit software cannot see the fucking drives they are on.

So, I`m not surprised you had problems.

Maybe if Coders were waterboarded when they made serious errors, they might do their job right.

Since you can't be bothered to mention any details, and you're not
smart enough to know you're replying to an 8.5-year-old post, I'm
confident in declaring the real problem to be... you.
